I just assume Mike spells his last name Ryder because of hockey.

They rarely use the term 'mafia' in the show if ever.  Organized crime, and 'the syndicate' were always used instead.  Not until the Godfather did anyone say 'the Mafia'.

Look, I'm still confused by Carl's pants.

When Jim calls someone 'sport' that's when he's extra condescending.  I approve.
